Life can be hard, and we all experience some degree of confusion, anxiety or conflict, but if we feel that way most of the time, something is wrong; we're out of balance with ourselves. Ongoing negative feelings about ourselves, other people and the world rob us of our peace of mind. Living a positive life of meaningful activities and relationships may feel like an impossible dream. These feelings can weigh us down and drain us of our native vitality for life.
We can't experience calm and peace of mind if we feel buried in these painful emotions. The thing is though, these feelings are OUR feelings; the feelings are in us wherever we are, so we can't outrun them, because they travel with us. If we know we feel bad and we want to feel differently (and better), it makes sense to start precisely where we are right now by learning to identify, explore, express and transform our emotional experiences.
Knowing where we are comes before figuring out where we're going, no matter how much we want to get there.
